The algorithm team at Sinboda is led by Professor  Liangjing Yang . Prof.  Liangjing Yang is a Principal Investigator at Zhejiang University and former MIT researcher, currently serves as Chief Scientist at Sinboda. With extensive expertise in biomedical robotic automation algorithms and image processing technologies, Prof. Yang has led pioneering research including endoscopic 3D reconstruction systems and large-scale liver tumor ablation robotic systems, driving the integration of microscopic image processing with high-precision automated operations.

Liangjing’s research interests are in Robotics and Computer Vision primarily focusing on biomedical applications including medical image reconstruction and image-guided surgeries as he heads the Intelligent Robot Vision & Control (IRVC) Group as the Principal Investigator currently. His pervious work in UTokyo on image mapping for 3D ultrasound-guided endoscopic procedures is published in both engineering and medical journals including a self-contained image mapping system presented in Surgical Endoscopy. The work is also recognized by two awards, namely, the Young Investigator Award 2013 from International Society of Computer Aided Surgery and the Best Paper Award in ACCAS 2015 from IEEE-Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. In NUS, he developed a robotic system for overlapping ablation of large liver tumors, which is featured in a special issue on “Surgical and Interventional Medical Devices” of ASME/IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics. In SUTD and MIT, Liangjing combines his expertise in Robotics and Computer Vision to develop a vision-guided robotic micromanipulation platform, which is published in IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering including another confidence-based hybrid visual tracking method. He holds two US patents related to an ultrasound image-guided robot and a Robotic Surgical Training System. The former technology is successfully licensed and commercialized while the latter development was named “Best Innovation in Biomedical Application” in a challenge organized by National Instrument in 2011.

The algorithm team led by Dr. Liangjing Yang possesses cutting-edge academic vision and robust innovation capabilities in automated operations, image recognition algorithms, data analytics, and related fields. As Chief Scientist of Sinboda, Dr. Yang has applied his expertise in automation algorithms and biomedicine to the development of core technology platforms, endowing Sinboda with world-class algorithmic capabilities. His work provides a solid technological foundation for the advancement and application of AI algorithms in the company's products, propelling the company to the forefront of innovation in life science instrumentation.
